Match Report |
A good win in the end after a rather disjointed match. The first half saw a solid performance with good shape and strong passing. The two goals -a right place right time tap in from Mike James and a contrasting take on several defenders then round the keeper from Jude williams -could have ben added to. Sam E controlled much of the midfield play with Seb and Dave Burke offering good options. Strangely the main attacking threat came from the East Devon centre back who came through the middle to add an extra forward. Gareth Parsons increases his skill level each week and along with his expereince at playing a high level of football is becoming a very strong all round player (as long as his legs hold out). Paul Jewell controlled the back four with skill and allowed Toby Acharya to develop his ability and understanding of the centre back role. Toby tricket pushed forward to support the midfield well. James Parsons continued to grow in confidence and worked hard at left back. Umesh was his usual energetic and enthusiastic self which always poses problems for the opposition. Isaac was man of the match with his best display of the season. He came out and controlled the D, called players into position, made several saves and even acted as sweeper at one point -reading the play well to help out the backs. The second half saw the opposition (and us to a certain extent) tire and the structue went a bit. They left up to 4 players in our 25 even as we attacked which left a dilema as to how many to leave back with them. We chose mostly to leave them and make use of the overload -but we failed to score and they then posed a danger when play broke down. Overall lots of development and a deserved win.The three strongest teams in the league await over the next weeks before the mid season break.
