Match Report |
An excellent performance against a top of the table side who were strong and organised. We rode our luck in the first quarter as Okehampton attacked with fast and acurate passing. It was a struggle to get the ball out againgst a disciplined press. The difference came when we remembered everything that we had gone through in training. We transfered around the back at speed ( well done Tom Douie) moved the ball up the wing and then either pushed further forward or brought the ball back around. In defense players didn't dive in but stayed strong and mobile to force the opposition to go back or make a mistake or nick the ball. This was from everyone but Owain was especially effective at it -he also read the play well (he got man of the match). The effort was superb from everyone and the 15 strong squad helped (with Archie James running the changes very effectively)- out of breath, red faced senior players were replaced every five minutes and even Jude had to have a rest in the second half as he had done so much running. Tom Langrishe ran the midfield for the whole game and his ditribution was excellent. As before we play our best hockey against the better sides. Isaac had a superb game in goal commanding his D calling the defence into place and making multiple saves. The only disappointment was Fish getting a yellow card for the last five minutes for making innapropriate comments to other players -but we managed the game well and achieved a well deserved point. A repeat of this next week will mean we can beat Teign.
